Ole Miss Women’s Golf Falls in SEC Quarterfinals to Auburn
The University of Mississippi women’s golf team was defeated 5-0 by Auburn in the quarterfinals of the SEC Championship on Monday at Pelican Golf Club in Belleair, Florida.
Several Rebels held early leads in their matches, but Auburn rallied at the turn to secure the victory. Ole Miss’s Swedish trio of Kajsalotta Svarvar, Matilda Björkman, and Filippa Sundquist were the first to tee off but each lost 3&2 to their opponents. Mary Miller and Sophie Linder’s matches were halted once the Tigers clinched the overall victory, sending Auburn into the semifinals.
Ole Miss will now shift focus to preparing for the NCAA Regionals, set to begin May 11. The Rebels will look to rebound from their SEC loss and advance further in postseason play, according to team representatives.
