Ole Miss Women’s Basketball Signs Doneelah Washington for 2026-27 Season
Ole Miss women’s basketball has secured Doneelah Washington from Illinois State for the 2026-27 season, head coach Yolett McPhee-McCuin announced Sunday.
McPhee-McCuin described Washington as a two-way player and one of the most efficient prospects in the transfer portal this year. The coach highlighted Washington’s basketball pedigree, noting her family’s elite background and her potential to make an immediate impact on the team.
Last season, Washington earned multiple honors, including All-MVC First Team, All-MVC Defensive Team, All-MVC Most Improved Player, and WNIT All-Tournament Team. She led Illinois State in points (16.7), rebounds (8.6), steals (1.9), and blocks (1.7). The 6-foot-1 forward recorded 11 double-doubles, including a career-high 31 points and 12 rebounds against Belmont.
The Lincoln, Nebraska native was named to the All-MVC All-Freshman Team in her debut season, playing all 37 games and averaging 4.9 points and 4.1 rebounds on a 49% shooting clip. She was the only freshman in program history with over 150 rebounds and 30 blocks in her first year.
Washington played high school basketball at Lincoln Northeast, earning All-Nebraska First Team honors her senior year by averaging over 21.6 points and 13.3 rebounds. She set school records for season and career rebounds, double-doubles, blocks, and field goals made. Her junior season saw her average a double-double with 17 points and 11 rebounds, earning All-Nebraska Second Team honors.
Joining other transfers and returning players, Washington becomes the eighth addition to Ole Miss’s roster from the transfer portal, which now includes 11 scholarship athletes for the upcoming season. The Rebels continue to build on a streak of five consecutive NCAA tournament appearances.
