Ole Miss Track & Field concludes regular season with strong showing at LSU Invite

BATON ROUGE, La. — Ole Miss track and field finished its regular season with notable performances at the LSU Invitational on Saturday. The Rebels highlighted the meet with impressive times and event victories, setting the stage for the postseason.

All-American senior Alicia Burnett, who recently won the SEC women’s 60-meter title indoors, clocked a wind-assisted 10.94 seconds in the 100-meter dash. That time ranks her second in Ole Miss history and fourth nationally for the season, according to the school. Burnett also anchored the winning 4×100-meter relay team, which finished in 44.10 seconds.

On the men’s side, sophomore Jordan Urrutia won the 200-meter dash in a personal-record time of 20.31 seconds, the second-fastest in Ole Miss history and fourth in the NCAA this season. Wesley Todd also set a personal best in the 200 meters, finishing sixth in 20.82 seconds. Fellow sophomore Tarique Wright ran 21.16 seconds, a personal record.

All-American throwers Akaoma Odeluga and Tarik Robinson-O’Hagan each secured two titles in their final tuneups before the upcoming conference meet. Odeluga won the hammer and shot put and added a discus runner-up finish. Robinson-O’Hagan swept the hammer and shot put, extending his undefeated streak in the outdoor season.

Additional notable performances included Mary Cate Doughty’s pole vault victory at 4.15 meters, and Indya Dotson’s third-place finish in the women’s long jump with a leap of 6.16 meters. Hannah Doyle posted a top-10 finish in the steeplechase, crossing the line in 10:49.51.

Next week, the Rebels will have a break before competing at the SEC Outdoor Championships in Auburn from May 14-16. The team aims to carry its momentum into postseason competition.
