Ole Miss Track’s Jordan Urrutia Earns First-Team All-American in 200-Meter Dash

EUGENE, Ore. — Ole Miss track and field sophomore Jordan Urrutia earned first-team All-American honors in the men’s 200-meter dash at the NCAA Outdoor Championships at Hayward Field on Friday. Urrutia finished eighth in the final with a wind-legal personal record of 20.33 seconds, narrowly missing his all-conditions personal best by two-hundredths of a second, according to meet organizers.

Urrutia’s eighth-place finish marked the Rebels’ first points in the event since Olympian Isiah Young finished as the national runner-up in 2013. The sophomore took lane two and crossed the finish line just before the wind limit of 1.5 meters per second, earning his spot on the first team and adding to a standout season for Ole Miss.

Throughout 2026, Urrutia made significant strides, setting school records indoors in the 200-meter (20.60 seconds) and 300-meter (33.06 seconds), and contributing as the anchor of the school-record 4×400-meter relay team (3:06.69). Outdoors, he ran the fastest 200-meter time since Young’s 2013 record of 20.12 seconds and finished sixth at the SEC Championships, the highest Rebel finish in the event since Young’s title that season.

Urrutia also contributed to Ole Miss’ 4×100-meter relay team, which finished 11th at the NCAA championships and earned second-team All-America honors. Senior Arvesta Troupe, competing in the men’s high jump, finished 14th with a clearance of 2.16 meters (7 feet, 1 inch), earning second-team All-America honors and concluding his Ole Miss career with four All-America awards, including the 2025 NCAA outdoor high jump title.

The final day of the championships is scheduled for Saturday, with Ole Miss athlete Alicia Burnett competing in the women’s 100-meter dash final live on ESPN2 at 7:52 p.m. CT.
