Ole Miss Softball Season Ends in NCAA Regional Final at Texas Tech
Texas Tech defeated Ole Miss 14-2 Sunday at Tracey Sellers Field in Lubbock, Texas, ending the Rebels’ run in the NCAA tournament. Ole Miss finished the season with a 36-26 record, including a 6-18 mark in Southeastern Conference play.
The Red Raiders, ranked No. 3 nationally and seeded 11th in the regional, showcased their offensive power. They scored two runs in the first inning and exploded for eight more in the third to take a commanding 10-0 lead. Texas Tech added three runs in the fourth and fifth innings to put the game away.
Ole Miss’s Kennedy Bunker provided a bright spot for the Rebels, homering and drawing a hit-by-pitch. Bunker’s solo home run in the third inning temporarily cut the lead to 10-1. Cassie Reasner added an RBI double in the third, and Mackenzie Pickens and Persy Llamas drew walks and hit-by-pitches to create scoring opportunities.
Texas Tech’s offense was led by Mia Williams and Jackie Lis, each with multiple RBIs. Kaitlyn Terry pitched for Texas Tech, earning the win, while Emilee Boyer took the loss for Ole Miss. The Rebels’ season officially ended with the loss.
