The Ole Miss softball team is preparing for its tenth consecutive appearance in the NCAA Tournament. The Rebels will compete in the Lubbock Regional, hosted by 11th seed Texas Tech, from May 15 to 17 at Tracy Sellers Field.
Ole Miss (34-24, 6-18 SEC) opens the regional as the No. 2 seed. The Rebels will face Patriot League champion Boston University (46-13, 16-2 Patriot) on Friday at 1 p.m. Central Time. The double-elimination format allows the Rebels to face either Texas Tech (52-6, 21-3 Big 12) or Marist (37-19, 24-3 MAAC) on Saturday, with the opponent and time to be determined.
The Rebels are making their tenth straight NCAA Tournament appearance. They are 22-21 all-time in the tournament, having won their opening game in seven of their nine previous trips. Last season, they nearly advanced to the Women’s College World Series after falling narrowly to Texas Tech, 1-0.
Ole Miss earned four NFCA All-South Region honors this week. First-team selections include juniors Madi George and Cassie Reasner, while sophomore Persy Llamas was named to the second team. Senior Emilee Boyer received third-team honors. George set the program’s single-season home run record with 21 and also broke the total bases and RBIs records.
The Rebels have hit 79 home runs in 2026, surpassing last season’s total of 67, and rank 24th nationally in home runs per game. Defensive efforts have been crucial, with the team posting a 21-7 record when not committing errors. Ole Miss has generated 27 double plays this season, ranking 20th nationally and third in the SEC.
The program’s success comes after a challenging schedule, including SEC series and tournament victories. The team has also made history by winning its first series in Knoxville against Tennessee in late March, showcasing strong pitching and defense.
Ole Miss recently celebrated the renaming of its stadium to Alisa and Mark Bourne Stadium, following a donation from the family. Since then, the Rebels secured two walk-off wins over Mississippi State with home runs from Kennedy Bunker and Rachel Connors.
Currently, the Rebels are riding a winning streak, with standout pitching from Emilee Boyer and a powerful offense. Freshman Madi George has been particularly impactful, earning multiple honors and setting records, including a multi-home run game in SEC play.
