Cohen Trolio and Tom Fischer of the University of Mississippi men’s golf team have been named Cobalt Golf All-America Scholars, the Golf Coaches Association of America announced Monday.
To qualify for the honor, players must be sophomores, juniors or seniors academically and athletically, participate in at least 50% of their team’s rounds, hold a stroke average below 76.0 and maintain a cumulative GPA of at least 3.20, according to the GCAA.
Trolio, a West Point, Mississippi, native, finished the year with a 3.37 GPA while majoring in general business. He competed in all 13 tournaments, posting a 71.14 stroke average over 36 rounds. He recorded two top-five finishes, four top-10s and seven top-20s. Trolio also shot 22 rounds at par or better, including 17 rounds under par.
Fischer, who also majored in general business, completed his senior campaign with a 3.56 GPA. He posted a 70.06 stroke average over 36 rounds, the fifth-lowest single-season average in Ole Miss history. Fischer earned Second Team All-America honors from PING and Golfweek, as well as All-SEC First Team honors. He recorded 28 rounds at par or better, ranking tied for third in program history, and had four top-five finishes, five top-10s and 11 top-20s.
Both players contributed to Ole Miss capturing its first SEC Championship in 41 years, defeating Florida 4-1 in the match play finals. The Rebels shared their success on social media, with updates available on X, Instagram, Facebook and the school’s athletic website.
