Ole Miss Baseball Completes 2026 MLB Draft with Eight Players Selected
PHILADELPHIA — Five Ole Miss baseball players heard their names called during the second day of the 2026 Major League Baseball Draft, increasing the Rebels’ total to eight selections for the year, according to the university’s athletics department.
Wil Libbert was chosen in the fifth round by the Atlanta Braves as the 144th overall pick. Landon Koenig was selected by the New York Mets in the eighth round as the 240th overall pick. Landon Waters went to the Toronto Blue Jays in the 17th round as the 522nd pick. Austin Fawley was drafted by the Braves in the 19th round as the 562nd pick, and JP Robertson was picked by the San Francisco Giants in the 20th round as the 598th pick.
Libbert pitched in 17 games for Ole Miss in 2026, striking out 51 batters over 48 innings. He recorded seven strikeouts in each of his first two starts, helping the Rebels beat Nevada and Missouri State. After transitioning to a bullpen role, Libbert threw three hitless innings against Arizona State in the Lincoln Regional to advance the team to the Super Regionals.
Koenig appeared in 17 games, posting a 3-1 record with 33 strikeouts over 22.2 innings. He earned his first win against Arkansas State and his first save against Missouri State. Koenig was the winning pitcher in a win over Georgia, allowing no runs in two innings.
Waters made 24 relief appearances, posting a 3.00 ERA with two saves and 25 strikeouts over 24 innings. He recorded a save in a victory over Texas and struck out four batters against Kentucky. Over two seasons, Waters appeared in 41 games, striking out 49 in 42.2 innings.
Fawley played in 57 games in 2026, finishing third on the team with a .489 slugging percentage and 13 home runs. He was named to the 2026 Lincoln Regional All-Tournament Team and previously earned regional honors in 2025. Fawley hit 21 home runs in 2025, the only catcher in Ole Miss history to reach that total in a single season.
Robertson appeared in 22 games, posting a 5-2 record with a 4.34 ERA and 49 strikeouts in 37.1 innings. He made his Division I debut against Arkansas State and earned wins in regional and super regional finals, helping Ole Miss advance in postseason play.
The draft marks the third consecutive year Ole Miss has produced at least seven MLB draft picks, underscoring the program’s continuing talent development, according to the university.
