Mississippi State Ties for Third After Day One at NCAA Winston-Salem Regional
Winston-Salem, N.C. — Mississippi State opened the NCAA Winston-Salem Regional with a strong team performance, shooting a 6-under 278 to tie for third place after the first round, according to the team.
Dain Richie led the Bulldogs individually, firing a 4-under 67. Richie made six birdies, including a clutch birdie on the 18th hole. His score is his second-best of the season and marks his ninth round of par or better in his last 10 rounds, the school said.
Garrett Endicott also played well, finishing at 2-under 69 and tied for 12th overall. He birdied the first hole and added three more birdies throughout his round. Endicott’s 22nd par-or-better round of the season ties his career high and his 80th in school history, tying Ford Clegg for the most in program history, according to the school.
Ugo Malcor and Jackson Skinner both shot even-par 71, each with two birdies. Jackson Cook finished with a 3-over 74. Mississippi State will start the second round at 7 a.m. CT off Hole 10. Live results are available on SCOREBOARD, the school said.
The first-round standings list Virginia in first place at 271, 13 under par. Pepperdine, Wake Forest, Ole Miss, and Southern California are tied for second at 278, six under par. The Bulldogs are tied for third with Wake Forest and Ole Miss.
Results for individual Bulldogs include Richie in third, Endicott in 12th, Malcor tied for 28th, and Cook in 59th. The regional continues Tuesday, with Mississippi State looking to improve its position.
