Mississippi State University has a rich history of producing professional baseball players. In 2026, 42 alumni are active in professional leagues, including eight in Major League Baseball, according to a recent update from MSU.
Among the MLB players are All-Stars Adam Frazier, Brent Rooker, Jordan Westburg, and Brandon Woodruff, along with World Series champion Nathaniel Lowe. The school has produced 72 Major Leaguers, 13 All-Stars, seven World Series champions, and 20 first-round draft picks, including Rooker, Westburg, Justin Foscue, Will Bednar, Landon Sims, and Jurrangelo Cijntje.
Foscue, now with the Texas Rangers, is batting .290 with seven home runs and 19 RBIs. Frazier, with the Los Angeles Angels, is sidelined on the injured list due to elbow inflammation. Ginn, with the Oakland Athletics, has a 3.10 ERA over 20 appearances this season.
Other alumni are making strides in the minors. MSU pitcher Eric Cerantola was claimed off waivers by the San Francisco Giants and debuted with a scoreless inning. Konnor Pilkington, with the Rochester Red Wings, has pitched three scoreless relief innings since rejoining the Nationals organization.
Several players are currently recovering from injuries, including Westburg, who underwent Tommy John surgery and will miss the 2026 season, and Woodruff, who is on the injured list with shoulder inflammation. MSU’s weekly updates will continue to track their progress throughout the season.
