Blue Mountain Christian University Names Grace Swanson Assistant Volleyball Coach

Blue Mountain Christian University has announced the hiring of Grace Swanson as the new assistant coach for its volleyball team, the Volley Toppers.

Swanson, a native of Corinth, Mississippi, joins BMCU after coaching at the high school and club levels. She played for Corinth High School’s inaugural volleyball team in 2009 and earned All-Division honors. Swanson helped lead the Warriors to a division championship and a North Half Championship appearance in 2012.

Following her playing career, Swanson gained four years of coaching experience outside Mississippi before returning to Corinth High School as head coach in 2023. Under her leadership, Corinth reached the MHSAA playoffs in 2023 and 2024, the program’s first postseason appearances since 2019.

Swanson has also contributed to the volleyball community across Mississippi. In 2024, she was selected to coach the Northeast Mississippi Volleyball Coaches Association 4A-7A All-Star Game. She has served as head coach for Core Volleyball for three years, focusing on athlete development through club volleyball.

“We are excited to welcome Grace to our volleyball family,” said BMCU head coach Sara Eason. “Her passion for investing in student-athletes and helping them succeed both on and off the court makes her a great fit for our program. We believe she will make a positive impact from day one.”

Swanson holds an associate’s degree from Northeast Mississippi Community College and a Bachelor of Science in Sports Coaching from the University of Southern Mississippi. She plans to pursue a master’s degree in Sport and Coaching Performance at Southern Miss starting this August.

“I’m grateful for the opportunity to join the BMCU family,” Swanson said. “I look forward to helping our student-athletes grow and continue to compete at a high level while building meaningful relationships and fostering a positive team culture.”

Her coaching philosophy emphasizes building strong relationships, accountability, hard work, and continuous growth. Swanson aims to help athletes reach their full potential and create a resilient, confident team environment.

As she joins the Volley Toppers, Swanson is eager to help sustain the program’s success and foster a culture of daily improvement and resilience.
