Mississippi Christian Women’s Soccer Tops East Central 4-2

ADA, Okla. — Mississippi Christian defeated East Central 4-2 Saturday at Tiger Field, rallying from a 3-0 first-half lead to secure the win, according to the school.

The Lady Choctaws (3-1-0) scored three goals in the final 17 minutes of the opening half, including two in a span of 70 seconds. Abby Badurak opened the scoring at 28:57, assisted by Jaylen Bodry.

Brinnslee Picard doubled the lead at 42:10, assisted by Jadyn LoBue-Holzer. LoBue-Holzer then scored at 43:20 with help from Karah Boydstun and Badurak, giving Mississippi Christian a 3-0 advantage at halftime. The team outshot East Central 9-5 and earned all four first-half corner kicks.

East Central responded early in the second half, with Addisyn Brown scoring at 46:16. The Tigers cut the deficit to one goal at 56:54 when Estrella Hernandez scored off an assist from Kaylie Gonzalez. The Lady Choctaws’ goalkeeper, Paityn Settlemires, made four saves and helped defend against a late East Central rally.

In the final minutes, Mississippi Christian regained control. Badurak, Michelle Melancon and Olivia Graham each tested the goalkeeper. Kerri O’Hara sealed the victory with a goal at 87:23, assisted by Bodry, to make it 4-2.

LoBue-Holzer led the team with a goal and an assist, while Badurak scored and assisted on her goal. Bodry contributed two assists. Settlemires played all 90 minutes, recording four saves. The victory improves Mississippi Christian’s season record to 3-1, while East Central drops to 0-4.

The Lady Choctaws return home Saturday, Sept. 12, to open Gulf South Conference play against Union at Robert P. Longabaugh Field. Kickoff is scheduled for 1 p.m.
