Mississippi State Soccer Looks to Complete Perfect Non-Conference Record Against Charlotte

Mississippi State soccer will close its non-conference schedule Sunday when the Bulldogs host Charlotte at 1 p.m. CT on SEC Network+. Senior Day ceremonies honoring goalkeepers Jenny Harrison and Sarah Wommack are scheduled to begin at 12:45 p.m., prior to kickoff, according to the university.

The Bulldogs, who are 6-0-0 this season, aim to finish undefeated in non-conference play for the fourth time in program history, excluding the shortened 2020-21 COVID season. With a win, MSU would complete a 7-0-0 record, its first since 2018, and extend its unbeaten streak at home to 17 games, matching the program record set from 1995 to 1998.

MSU’s current 16-0-0 home non-conference streak began with a match in September 2023. A victory Sunday would also make head coach Kevin O’Brien the first in school history to win his first seven games with the Bulldogs. The team has scored early in most matches this season, leading for nearly 74 percent of total play time.

Hailey Johnson has contributed offensively in most games, scoring or assisting on seven of the team’s 17 goals. Charlotte, ranked unlisted nationally, stands at 3-2-0 and has taken 86 shots this season, led by Evie Craven’s 4.4 shots per game. The 49ers are traveling outside the Eastern Time Zone for the first time this year, covering a 533-mile trip for Sunday’s game.
