Millsaps Men’s Golf Concludes Regular Season at Cochran Collegiate

The Millsaps men’s golf team wrapped up its regular season at the Cochran Collegiate at Colonial Country Club in Memphis on Monday and Tuesday. The historic course, which opened in 1914 and once hosted a PGA Tour event, proved to be a tough test for the players.

Junior Julius Kroell from Munich, Germany, led the Majors with a total of 234 (+18) after three rounds, tying for 21st. He shot identical rounds of 78 each day. Sophomore Charlie Berglund and freshman Jack Ritter both tied for 35th at 241 (+25). Ritter, competing in only his second collegiate event, posted his best finish to date.

Freshman Noble Burns competed as an individual, tying for 44th at 246 (+30). His best round was a 75 in the second round, the lowest for any Millsaps player at Colonial. Sophomore Miles Harrison finished tied for 47th at 247 (+31), while senior Steven Noack was 56th at 252 (+36). Junior Jason Howe finished 59th at 258 (+42).

The team finished 11th overall out of 10 teams, with Illinois Wesleyan leading the field. Millsaps will next compete at the Southern Athletic Association Men’s and Women’s Golf Championships from April 24-26 at Greystone Golf Club in Dickson, Tennessee. A practice round is scheduled for April 23.

The Majors’ final regular-season event featured strong performances despite the course’s difficulty. The team aims to improve ahead of the conference championships, where both men’s and women’s teams will compete for the title.

Millsaps College, a private liberal arts institution founded in 1890 in Jackson, Mississippi, emphasizes academic excellence and social progress. The college has received recognition from various national rankings and publications.
