Millsaps Baseball Wins ABCA Academic Excellence Award for 2025-26

The Millsaps College baseball program has been honored with the American Baseball Coaches Association’s 2025-26 ABCA Team Academic Excellence Award, the organization announced Wednesday. The award recognizes teams that demonstrate outstanding academic performance.

According to the ABCA, the Millsaps team posted a cumulative GPA of 3.09 during the school year. The team’s success in the classroom complements their athletic pursuits, coaches said.

More than 500 college programs and over 320 high school teams received the award this year. To be eligible, teams had to be part of a high school or college baseball program, have a head coach who is an ABCA member, and post a minimum team GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale for the academic year, the organization said.

The ABCA, founded in 1945, is a professional organization representing more than 15,000 baseball coaches across all 50 states and 41 countries. The organization recognizes excellence through various awards, including the ABCA/Rawlings All-America Teams and Coaches of the Year.

For more information, the organization noted, the ABCA’s awards and honors highlight the achievements of student-athletes and coaches nationwide. Millsaps College, established in 1890 in Jackson, Mississippi, is a nationally recognized liberal arts institution committed to academic excellence and social progress.
