Jones College Wins Fifth ABCA Academic Excellence Award Since 2020

Greensboro, N.C. — Jones College has received the American Baseball Coaches Association’s (ABCA) Team Academic Excellence Award for the 2025-26 academic year. The school is one of only two programs in the Mississippi Association of Community Colleges Conference (MACCC) to earn the honor, according to an announcement Wednesday.

This marks the fifth time since 2020 that Jones has been recognized for its academics. The award coincides with the Bobcats’ recent achievement of winning their third NJCAA Region 23 Championship and earning their first NJCAA Division II World Series berth since 2016.

The ABCA award recognizes programs that posted a team GPA of 3.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale during the school year. Nearly 500 college programs and more than 320 high school programs received the honor this year, which was announced after coaches submitted nominations by July 17.

To qualify, programs must be college or high school teams, have a current ABCA member head coach, and meet the GPA requirement. The ABCA, founded in 1949, is known for its awards honoring student-athletes and coaches, including the ABCA/Rawlings All-America Teams and the Coaches of the Year awards.

Jones College’s baseball team has now been recognized multiple times for academic excellence, demonstrating a commitment to both athletic and academic achievement, according to school officials.
