Jackson State’s Kam Sallis Named Second Team Preseason All-American

Jackson, Mississippi — Kam Sallis, a redshirt junior and first-team All-SWAC selection, was named a second-team preseason All-American by FCS Football Central on Wednesday.

Sallis played in 11 games last season, starting all at defensive back. He totaled 53 tackles, including 27 solo stops, with two interceptions and two pass breakups. He also forced two fumbles and recorded a career-high 12 tackles against Prairie View A&M, including eight solo stops in that game.

Sallis also had seven tackles in the season opener against Southern Miss and recorded at least one tackle in every game he played. He was named a semifinalist for the Aeneas Williams Award and earned second-team All-Conference honors last season.

He is the second Jackson State player to earn preseason All-American honors this year. Quaveon Davis was named a third-team All-American by FCS Stats Perform.
