Kimona Haynes Wins CCS Female Athlete of the Year for Second Consecutive Season
Atlanta — Kimona Haynes has been a standout in the CCS all season, and the conference officially recognized her as the 2026 Women’s Track & Field Athlete of the Year. This marks her second consecutive honor and her second career CCS Athlete of the Year award, following a season in which she led the league in nearly every event she competed in, according to conference officials.
Haynes finished the year with the top times in the CCS in the 100 meters (12.04 seconds), 200 meters (24.26 seconds), and 400 meters (54.80 seconds). Her personal best of 24.26 in the 200 meters was set early at the Belhaven Invitational and established her as a league leader. She also ran her best in the 100 meters with a 12.04 at the Southern Miss Invitational, which remained the fastest time in the conference for the season.
During the CCS Championships, Haynes delivered a strong performance, running a personal-best 54.80 in the 400 preliminaries before winning the final in 58.85. She also captured the 200-meter title with a time of 24.66 after qualifying the day earlier. Additionally, she was part of Belhaven’s victorious 4×400 relay team, which finished in 4 minutes, 12.90 seconds, closing out her season with another win on her home track.
Haynes’s progression throughout the season was notable. She initially ran the 100 meters in 12.25 seconds and the 400 in 55.06 seconds. By April, she had improved to her season-best marks, including a 12.04 in the 100 and 54.80 in the 400. Her 200-meter time also improved into the mid-24-second range, making it the best in the conference. Her consistency and steady improvement earned her multiple accolades, including her ninth career First Team All-Conference selection and her 15 total all-conference honors, the most in league history.
Haynes was also voted the overall CCS Athlete of the Year for 2026, further cementing her status as one of the league’s top athletes.
