Freshman Meredith Dearman earns Second-Team NJCAA All-American honors

Senatobia, Miss. — Meredith Dearman’s exceptional first season for Northwest Mississippi Community College has earned her a Second-Team NJCAA Softball Division II All-American honor, the school announced Tuesday.

Dearman is the fourth player in program history to receive the award, joining Ellie Fryar, Saige Koczka, and McKaylee Polk. Sommer Tyes is the only other Ranger to earn All-American honors, having been named to the NFCA NJCAA Division II Second Team last season.

The freshman from Enterprise had a record-setting season, winning 21 games and striking out 208 batters in 180 innings. She pitched 19 complete games and recorded four shutouts. Her performance in the national tournament drew particular praise, as she struck out 41 batters in just 25.1 innings while allowing only five runs.

Dearman’s dominance helped her stand out nationally, especially during the postseason, where she nearly recorded two more complete-game shutouts. Her achievements place her among the top pitchers in program history, and her season will be remembered as one of the best in school history.

Other key players on the team include Ellie Fryar, a sophomore infielder, and Sommer Tyes, a sophomore pitcher and utility player, both of whom have received postseason honors in previous seasons.
