Delta State’s Byrd Named D2CCA South Region Pitcher of the Year
LAKELAND, Fla. — Delta State University baseball pitcher Adrian Byrd has been named the 2026 Division Two Conference Commissioners Association South Region Pitcher of the Year, the organization announced Thursday. Byrd, a junior left-hander, also received first-team All-South Region honors.
Byrd finished the season with an 8-2 record and posted a 1.52 ERA, one of the lowest in the nation. He struck out 113 batters, ranking among the top five in Delta State history for a single season. Opponents hit just .199 against him.
Joining Byrd on the All-Region team were two other Statesmen players. Junior outfielder Tucker Jones and junior first baseman Levi Lang earned second-team All-South Region honors. Jones led Delta State with a .360 batting average, 76 hits, 11 doubles, nine home runs and 65 RBIs. He was perfect in stolen base attempts, going 32-for-32, and led the Gulf South Conference in stolen bases.
Lang contributed power to the lineup with a .335 batting average, 20 extra-base hits, including 10 home runs, and 50 RBIs. He posted a team-high .546 slugging percentage and a .433 on-base percentage.
Byrd is also in contention for All-American honors and national pitcher of the year. Delta State finished the season with a 32-23 record and made its third consecutive trip to the NCAA Division II South Regional.
