Delta State’s Byrd, Jones, and Lang Earn ABCA/Rawlings All-Region Honors

GREENSBORO, N.C. — Delta State University baseball players Adrian Byrd, Tucker Jones, and Levi Lang received All-Region honors from the American Baseball Coaches Association and Rawlings on Thursday.

Byrd, a senior left-handed pitcher, was named the South Region Pitcher of the Year. He also earned first-team All-South Region honors. Byrd finished the season with an 8-2 record and a 1.52 ERA, one of the lowest in the nation. He struck out 113 batters, ranking in the top five in Delta State history, and opponents hit just .199 against him.

Junior outfielder Tucker Jones made second-team All-South Region. Jones led the team with a .360 batting average, 76 hits, 11 doubles, nine home runs, and 65 RBIs. He also was perfect on stolen base attempts, going 32-for-32, and led the Gulf South Conference in stolen bases.

Junior first baseman Levi Lang also earned second-team All-Region honors. The Judsonia, Arkansas, native batted .335 with 20 extra-base hits, including a team-high 10 home runs. He drove in 50 RBIs, had a slugging percentage of .546, and led the team with a .433 on-base percentage.

The ABCA/Rawlings All-American Teams will be announced Friday, May 29, according to the organization.
