Southern Miss Baseball Lands Six on ABCA All-Region South Teams
HATTIESBURG, Miss. — Six Southern Miss baseball players have been named to the ABCA/Rawlings All-South Region teams, the program announced Tuesday. Four players earned first-team honors, while two were named to the second team, marking the most selections in a single year for the Golden Eagles since 1994, according to school officials.
First-team honorees include first baseman Matthew Russo, second baseman Kyle Morrison, left-handed pitcher Grayden Harris, and reliever Camden Clark. Russo, a senior from Madisonville, Louisiana, batted .318 with 11 home runs and a team-high 56 RBIs. He also made the SBC All-Tournament team and was named to the Lou Gehrig Community Impact team.
Morrison, in his only season at Southern Miss, started all 61 games and hit .308 with 17 home runs and 48 RBIs. The Alabama native was a semifinalist for the Dick Howser Trophy and earned first-team All-Sun Belt honors. Harris, the Sun Belt Pitcher of the Year, finished with an 8-1 record and a 4.02 ERA. He struck out 107 batters in 87 1/3 innings and won his last four decisions of the season.
Clark, a first-team All-Sun Belt relief pitcher and NCBWA Stopper of the Year Midseason Watch List member, posted an 8-0 record with five saves and a 2.93 ERA. He pitched in 23 games, including seven starts, and struck out 81 batters in 55 1/3 innings.
Second-team selections include center fielder Joey Urban and reliever Colby Allen. Urban, the Sun Belt Tournament MVP, hit .322 with 15 home runs and 55 RBIs. He earned All-Tournament honors and became the first Golden Eagle position player to earn league player of the week awards in consecutive weeks. Allen, in his fourth season, posted a 7-2 record with a 3.05 ERA and two saves. He also earned All-Sun Belt second-team honors and was named to the league’s All-Tournament team.
First-team All-Region players are eligible for ABCA/Rawlings All-America honors. The 2026 All-America teams will be announced June 12 in Omaha, Nebraska, prior to the College World Series. The postseason awards schedule continues with the announcement of the NCAA Division I Gold Glove finalists on June 15, followed by the winners on June 17. The National Pitchers and Position Players of the Year will be announced June 22, according to the ABCA.
Since 1994, Southern Miss has produced 54 All-Region honorees. The school’s six selections this year mark its most in a single season.
