Belhaven Softball Trio Earns Weekly Conference Honors

Atlanta — Belhaven Softball claimed three weekly awards from the Collegiate Conference of the South after winning four straight games to close the regular season. The Blazers earned the CCS Player of the Week, Pitcher of the Week, and Rookie of the Week honors, according to a school release.

Maryanna Guy was named CCS Player of the Week after going 4-for-7 at the plate with four extra-base hits, including two doubles, a triple, and a home run. She drove in seven runs and posted a slugging percentage of 1.571. The junior’s key hit came during the Asbury series, when she cleared the bases with a three-run double in a five-run inning, helping Belhaven to control early. Guy is batting .412 this season with 49 hits, 14 doubles, eight home runs, and 41 RBIs, earning her first CCS Player of the Week award, according to the school.

Macy Funderburk was named CCS Pitcher of the Week after tossing 8.2 scoreless innings over two appearances. She allowed just two hits, struck out 12, and opponents hit only .077 against her. In her first game against Asbury, she struck out nine over six innings and allowed just one hit. She followed with 2.2 shutout innings against LaGrange. Funderburk has a 10-4 record with a 1.75 ERA and 78 strikeouts in 60 innings this season, earning her fourth career weekly pitching award and second this year, per the school.

AR Sharp earned CCS Rookie of the Week honors after going 2-0 with 6.3 scoreless innings. The freshman allowed six hits, struck out seven, and walked two. She opened with 3.1 scoreless frames against Asbury and followed with 3.2 innings of shutout ball versus LaGrange. Sharp’s season record stands at 9-0 with a 2.90 ERA and 62 strikeouts in 58 innings, marking her second rookie award, according to the school.

The Blazers secured the No. 1 seed in the upcoming CCS Tournament.
