Kaisley Radcliffe Named Child Coach by Children’s of Mississippi and Mississippi State

Kaisley Radcliffe of Brandon has been recognized as a Child Coach through a partnership between Children’s of Mississippi and Mississippi State University. The program celebrates pediatric patients who demonstrate resilience and courage in facing health challenges, according to the organizations.

Radcliffe was flown to Children’s of Mississippi just three days after her birth, as she was born extremely prematurely at 25 weeks. She spent eight months in the neonatal intensive care unit, undergoing multiple surgeries and daily tests. Her first Christmas was celebrated in the NICU, where staff decorated her incubator with a small artificial tree to create a festive environment, her mother recalled.

Now five years old, Radcliffe is thriving. She manages several medical conditions, including cerebral palsy, epilepsy, short bowel syndrome and visual impairment. Her care team at Children’s of Mississippi includes specialists such as gastroenterologists, neurologists, orthopedic surgeons and palliative care providers. Thanks to pediatric physical therapy, she can walk with a walker.

Radcliffe is described as a happy child who enjoys reading, especially rhyming books, listening to music, dancing with her mother and spending time outdoors. Her friends at Children’s of Mississippi are cheering her on as she continues to grow and thrive.

The partnership aims to inspire others by sharing stories of children like Kaisley, who demonstrate remarkable bravery in the face of adversity.
