Pontotoc uses big bats to crush their way to North Half championship series
The Pontotc Warriors used a familiar formula in making their way to the North Half Championship series this season.
Hit the ball a long way and often.
Mission accomplished.
The Warriors bashed 6 homeruns in a 2 game sweep of Ripley to advance to play New Hope in the North Half Championship.
In game one, Pontotoc got solo shots from Reed Emmison and Ross Matthews and a towering 3 run blast from Peco Townsend to put the Warriors on top 5-4. Freshman Brice Deaton got the win and 8th grader Jon Carnes came in to close the door and get the save.
In game two, the Warriors again turned to the long ball for offense in the 11-0 win. Townsend added two more homers to his tally and Hayden Harris blasted a homer to go with 3 RBI on the game. Caleb Hobson, Deaton and Blake Duke all added doubles. Matthews had a pair of hits to go with 3 RBI.Carnes came back on the mound to pitch the complete game shutout against the potent Tiger offense.
