Alcorn State Looks to Extend Winning Streak at Grambling State

The Alcorn State Braves (3-2, 2-0 SWAC) will face Grambling State University on Saturday at 2 p.m. in Grambling, Louisiana, following their overtime win over Texas Southern last weekend, according to team officials.

Running back Fredrick Robertson was named the SWAC Newcomer of the Week for the second time this season. He totaled a season-high 105 rushing yards and 70 receiving yards in the victory, leading the Braves in both categories, the school said.

Alcorn State enters the game with a three-game winning streak against Grambling State. The teams have split their last 10 matchups, each winning five times, according to available records.

The game will be broadcast on WPRL 91.7 FM with Charles Edmond calling the play-by-play and Cedric Tillman on the sidelines. It will also stream live on SWAC TV.

Alcorn State head coach Cedric Thomas, now in his third season, holds a 14-15 record at the school. He has not faced Grambling State as a head coach, according to team officials.

The weather forecast predicts a high of 84 degrees, with northeast winds at 7 mph and a 96% chance of rain, officials said.

If the Braves beat Texas Southern, it would mark head coach Cedric Thomas’s 15th career win and improve their record to 4-2 for the season.

Alcorn State will return home for its Homecoming game against Arkansas Baptist College on Oct. 10 at Jack Spinks–Marino Casem Stadium.
