Pontotoc crushes way to third round of playoffs
The Pontotoc Warriors are no stranger to the long ball, having hit 23 as a team this season to be among the leaders in homerun proficiency in 4A Mississippi baseball.
The three they took out of the park Monday ensured they will move on to the third round of the playoffs with an 8-4 win over Kosciusko.
Caleb Hobson knocked out a pair of homers, one in the 2nd and one in the 5th, while Hayden Harris launched a 2 run homer in the 5th to end the scoring for the Warriors.
Pitcher Miles Galloway took the mound in a critical third inning with the bases loaded and no outs and proceeded to get out of the inning with no damage.
Pontotoc moves on to face Ripley who eliminated them in the state playoffs last season. Game 1 of that series is set for Thursday at home at 7.
