Ole Miss beats LSU 32-24 in home showdown

The University of Mississippi football team defeated LSU 32-24 Saturday at Vaught-Hemingway Stadium, extending its home winning streak to 14 games. The crowd of 70,033 set an attendance record for the venue, according to school officials.

Ole Miss improved to 24-1 at home since 2023, the best record in college football during that span. The Rebels have also won 13 of the last 15 meetings on the field against LSU, including each of the last six.

This was the 115th all-time matchup between the schools, dating back to 1894. LSU leads the series 66-45-4 overall, but Ole Miss holds a slight edge in Oxford, 12-11-1. Saturday’s game was the first time since 1962 both teams were ranked inside the top 10 in the AP Poll.

Ole Miss’s quarterback Trinidad Chambliss led the offense with 363 passing yards and two touchdowns. He also scored a rushing touchdown, marking his seventh game with both passing and rushing scores in his career. Receiver Traylon Ray had a career-high 115 yards receiving and a touchdown.

Defensively, Sharif Denson and Tah’j Butler each recorded eight tackles. The defense limited LSU to just 34 yards in the first quarter and forced a late interception by Jaylon Braxton to seal the victory. Will Echoles led the team with 3.0 tackles for loss, including a sack.

Ole Miss’s special teams contributed with a field goal from Lucas Carneiro and two punts from Oscar Bird for 84 yards total. The Rebels now prepare for their next game against Florida, scheduled for Sept. 26.
