Northwest Mississippi Women’s Soccer Remains No. 1 in National Poll for Fourth Week

The Northwest Mississippi Community College women’s soccer team has maintained its No. 1 ranking in the NJCAA poll for the fourth straight week, according to the latest national rankings. The team, known as the Rangers, owns a 7-0 record and a 3-0 mark in conference play.

The team has been impressive offensively and defensively, outscoring opponents 53-2 through seven games. Freshman Yazzlyn Alex leads the team with seven goals, while three players — Olivia Miller, Iriko Rakotoarimanana, and Rylee Ringold — each have five goals. Playmaking is distributed among several players, with Melanie Holt, Maggie Pace, and Emma Demassey tied for four assists each.

Defensively, Northwest has recorded five clean sheet victories and has limited opponents to just 18 shots all season. The team is one of five from the MACCC ranked in the top ten nationally, alongside Jones Community College, Holmes Community College, Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College, and Pearl River Community College.

The Rangers will return home to the Ranger Soccer Complex in Senatobia on Tuesday, September 22, for a key matchup against second-ranked Jones Community College. Jones is 6-0-1 overall and 2-0 in conference play.
