CONWAY, Ark. — Belhaven’s men’s soccer team extended its winning streak to three games with a 4-2 victory over Hendrix at Warrior Soccer Field.
Justin Ramirez made an early save against Josh Montgomery just over two minutes into the match. The Blazers took the lead at 5:11 when Ciaran Colvin scored off an assist from Ricardo Flores.
Belhaven continued to press, with Adrian Sanchez forcing two saves six seconds apart in the 14th minute and Wyatt Dupre putting another shot on target in the 20th. Zachary Howard doubled the lead at 38:15, scoring from an assist by Tyler Milioto. The team went into halftime ahead 2-0.
Diego Sarzalejo scored unassisted for Belhaven at 58:40, making it 3-0. Hendrix’s Josh Montgomery pulled one back in the 72nd minute, and Dylan Cruthers hit the crossbar five minutes later. Gabriel Glatt extended Belhaven’s lead at 82:23 with a goal assisted by Sanchez. Montgomery scored again for Hendrix with 1:28 remaining, but the Blazers held on for the win.
Belhaven outshot Hendrix 20-10 and held a 10-5 edge in shots on goal. The Blazers also earned 10 corner kicks to Hendrix’s seven. Sanchez led all players with seven shots and an assist, while Ramirez made two saves over 90 minutes.
