Atlanta — Ciaran Colvin, a junior centerback at Belhaven University, was named the Collegiate Conference of the South Defensive Player of the Week, the league announced Tuesday. It is his first weekly award of the season and his fourth overall.
Colvin played all 180 minutes during a 2-0 week for the Blazers, who secured wins at Rhodes and LaGrange. Belhaven allowed only one goal across the two matches. In the opener, the Blazers came from behind to beat Rhodes 2-1, with Colvin assisting Zachary Howard’s equalizing goal in the 61st minute. The defense held the Lynx scoreless over the final 36 minutes, marking the program’s first win over Rhodes since 2014.
On Saturday, Colvin played a full 90 minutes in a 2-0 shutout of LaGrange. The Blazers limited the Panthers to five shots on goal and recorded their second clean sheet of the season. Colvin also contributed offensively, placing Belhaven’s first shot of the match on target in the third minute.
Through 10 matches, the New Port Richey, Florida, native has started nine games and played 727 minutes. He has one goal, two assists and four points. Colvin scored his first goal of the season in a 4-2 victory at Hendrix and is tied for second on the team in assists. During the current five-match winning streak, Belhaven has outscored opponents 20-4.
Colvin, who has earned multiple all-conference honors, previously received the CCS Defensive Player of the Week award as a freshman on Oct. 22, 2024, and twice as a sophomore in October 2025. He was named the Most Valuable Player of the 2024 CCS Championship after helping the Blazers win their first conference title in the NCAA era.
The team returns to action Tuesday night when hosting Millsaps at Belhaven Bowl Stadium.
