Tristan Jernigan received his first D1 offer from Austin Peay. He is a 2024 6’1″ 210lb DE/OLB from Tupelo, MS and attends Tupelo High.

When you look at Tristan you see a football player. This is a kid you can tell is a hard worker. He is in the weightroom heavy. There is a tweet where he squats 505lbs three times. With the work ethic he has look for him to get a lot more offers over the next two years. He reminds me of a guy that can play defense in the SEC. He is fast, big and aggressive. It doesn’t get any better than that for a defensive player.

Tristan is a great pass rusher that gets to the QB fast. He makes it very hard for offensive lineman to block him. I love the way he shoots his arms off the line and keeps OL off of him. Those are day one fundamentals for defensive lineman and he does it well.

Tristan doesn’t have much film out, but I saw great potential in what I watched. You don’t need a lot of film when you pass the eye test and you big plays. Jernigan is very solid in the run game as well. I like how he gets off blocks, gets his head around and makes tackles.

I haven’t seen him in the 7v7 passing game yet, but right now I think he could truly flourish on the next level at OLB. He has great speed, he is long and has a lot of energy. I can see him having the intangibles to rush the edge and keep outside containment while also being able to cover a TE.

I’m glad I was able to run across his profile. This is my type of defensive guy and I will be very sure to keep up with him as the years go along. He is just one of those hard working guys that you want to see make it. He also plays with MOJO 7v7.

“It’s doesn’t even feel real to have my first offer,” said Tristan. “I want to improve on my covering skills and my speed to the ball. Plus all reading your guards. The job is never finished until I make it and I’m gonna do whatever it takes to get there!”
