RUSTON, La. — Mississippi Valley State University volleyball wrapped up a three-match road trip at the Bulldog Bash, losing to Northwestern State and Louisiana Tech before defeating ULM in a four-set match. The Delta Devils return to Itta Bena with a 1-7 record and will host Dillard on Wednesday night.
MVSU opened the tournament with a straight-set loss to Northwestern State on Thursday at the Thomas Assembly Center. The Demons won 25-21, 25-15, and 25-14. Taylor Wooten and Aubrie Walker led the Delta Devils with five kills each. Wooten also added nine digs and three blocks, while Walker contributed two blocks and a service ace. Aniyah Moore had five blocks and three kills, and Brooklyn Brunt added three kills and two blocks. MVSU totaled eight team blocks, double Northwestern State’s four. Erin Mims dished out 10 assists and recorded seven digs in the loss.
The Delta Devils faced Louisiana Tech on Friday, falling 3-0 with scores of 25-10, 25-12, and 25-22. Walker led with six kills, six digs, and a service ace. Brunt contributed four kills and two blocks, while Moore added two kills and three total blocks. Mims finished with eight assists and four digs, and Browne added six assists and five digs. The team combined for 41 digs, with Ashlynn Hawkins and Taylor Wilson each recording eight.
On Saturday, MVSU took ULM to four sets before falling 25-11, 25-19, 24-26, and 25-11 at B1Bank Fant Coliseum. The Delta Devils had their best offensive set in the third, hitting .235 with 11 kills. Mims posted a double-double with 16 assists and 11 digs. Browne added 14 assists. Walker led the team with eight kills, and Wooten had seven kills and 12 digs. Moore contributed six kills and six blocks. Hannah St. Croix recorded four kills without error for a .571 hitting percentage. The team totaled 32 kills, 53 digs, and eight blocks.
