Delta State Women’s Soccer Honors for Hooker and Bircher

Delta State University women’s soccer players Avery Hooker and Kim Bircher received Gulf South Conference weekly awards, the conference announced Thursday.

Hooker was named Player of the Week after scoring twice in a 6-1 victory over UAH on Saturday. The goals marked her most in a game during her time with the Lady Statesmen. The Tupelo native is a redshirt junior.

Bircher earned Goalkeeper of the Week honors after playing 180 minutes across two matches. The senior recorded 18 saves, including 14 against Union last Wednesday, the fifth-most by a Lady Statesmen goalkeeper in a game in program history.

The Lady Statesmen will play their next match Tuesday evening, traveling to Livingston, Alabama, to face the University of West Alabama Tigers.
