Boston College Volleyball Sweeps Alcorn State in Three Sets

Memphis, Tenn. — Alcorn State’s volleyball team dropped a 3-0 decision to Boston College on the final day of the Carrie Yerty Classic. The Lady Braves, still seeking their first win of the season, showed resilience but ultimately fell in straight sets.

Freshman Rylan Jones led Alcorn with 10 kills, while Courtney Carter added nine. Daylin Saiki contributed 26 assists for the Lady Braves. Despite their efforts, Boston College secured the win with decisive runs in each set.

In the first set, Alcorn fell behind early but rallied to take a 10-8 lead after a six-point run. Boston College responded with a 4-0 spurt to close the set 25-21. The Eagles then took the second set after a close fight, pulling away late for a 25-21 victory. The Lady Braves kept the third set competitive but couldn’t stop Boston College, which finished with a 25-18 score to complete the sweep.

Alcorn’s Tomoni Giddings reached a career milestone with her 450th dig. Cristin Webb recorded her 75th kill, and the team served five aces during the match. The Lady Braves will face the University of Alabama on Wednesday at 6 p.m.
