Woodall Leads Belhaven Volleyball with 35 Kills in Two Matches at Austin College

SHERMAN, Texas — Belhaven Volleyball lost two matches Friday at Austin College, falling in straight sets to Concordia (Texas) before taking a set from host Austin College in the nightcap, according to team reports.

Tarryn Woodall led the Blazers with 35 kills across the two matches. She finished with a match-high 18 kills on 39 swings against Concordia, hitting .282. Woodall added 17 kills and 11 digs in the second match against Austin College.

Megan LaCour contributed 14 kills and 23 digs over both matches. She posted nine digs in the second game. Maggie Joy Tomlin handed out 25 assists in the first match and 31 in the second. Kayla Robinson led the back row with 12 digs in the first game and 11 in the second, also recording Belhaven’s lone ace of the day.

In the first match, Concordia won in three sets, aided by eight service aces and 27 attack errors by Belhaven. The Tornados took the first set 25-15, then won the second 25-22, and closed out the match with a 25-18 victory. Despite falling behind early, the Blazers made late runs but couldn’t complete the comeback.

The Blazers responded in the second game, earning their first set win of the day. They opened with a 4-1 lead and later tied the set at 10-10 before Austin College pulled away. Belhaven managed to take the third set after a back-and-forth contest but ultimately fell in the final set, 25-14.

Belhaven, now 0-3, will continue its road trip Saturday in Irving, Texas. The team faces Paul Quinn College at 11 a.m. and the University of Dallas at 3 p.m.
