Williams Baptist Women’s Soccer Defeats Blue Mountain 5-0 at The Summit

Blue Mountain Christian University women’s soccer fell to Williams Baptist University 5-0 on Saturday at The Summit in Mississippi. The Toppers’ defense faced consistent pressure throughout the match, but goalkeeper Kiana Gordon and the back line kept the score close for much of the first half.

Williams Baptist broke through in the 40th minute when Yajaira Alvarado scored the opening goal. Gordon made seven saves in the first half to keep the deficit at one goal at halftime. The Eagles extended their lead in the 65th minute with a goal from Alvarado, assisted by Chloe Cureton. Alvarado completed her hat trick in the 75th minute, and Lucia Alvarez added a goal in the 80th minute. Valentina Marin finished the scoring in the 88th minute with an assist from Megan Sharp.

Gordon finished with 15 saves in goal, making eight in the second half. Offensively, Blue Mountain generated all four of its shots after halftime, led by Nayelli Aguayo with two attempts. Daniela Nieto and Jaelyn Cox each added one shot, with Nieto recording the team’s only shot on goal.

The Toppers aim to regroup and build on their second-half opportunities as they continue their season.
