Ole Miss Women’s Tennis Star Emily Welker Named CSC Academic All-American

OLE MISS — Emily Welker, a senior on the Ole Miss women’s tennis team, has earned College Sports Communicators (CSC) Second Team Academic All-American honors, the school announced Tuesday. Welker is the ninth player in program history to receive the accolade, and the first since Caroline Rohde-Moe in 2014.

The German native from Limbach-Oberfrohna finished her college career with an impressive season that included her becoming the program’s 14th All-American. She competed in the NCAA Singles Championships last fall, where she was seeded between 9-16 and reached the final four.

Her performance in the fall contributed to a season-high No. 6 ranking in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) singles rankings for the spring. Throughout the spring, Welker maintained a top 22 national ranking in singles, finishing with a 26-7 record and eight wins against ranked opponents. Her notable win included defeating Arkansas’ No. 23 Caroline Gomez Alonso.

In doubles, Welker partnered with Andrea Nova at the NCAA Doubles Championships, reaching the second round. The duo stayed together for the season, posting a 24-7 record and defeating Vanderbilt’s No. 6 doubles team in the SEC Tournament. They finished the season ranked No. 6 in the ITA doubles rankings.

Welker’s impact extended beyond individual play. She was named to the SEC All-Second Team for 2025-26 and maintained a 3.97 GPA while pursuing a graduate degree in public health. She is one of only two SEC student-athletes to earn CSC Academic All-American honors this year, alongside Vanderbilt’s Bridget Stammel.
