Ole Miss Tennis’ Emily Welker Earns All-SEC Second Team Honors

Ole Miss women’s tennis player Emily Welker was named to the All-SEC Second Team, the Southeastern Conference announced Wednesday. This marks her first postseason accolade from the SEC after an impressive second season with the Rebels.

Head coach Grant Roberts praised Welker, saying her recognition is a testament to her work ethic and professionalism. He added that she has been a foundational part of the team’s success and leads by example daily.

Welker previously earned Singles All-America honors last fall after reaching the semifinals of the NCAA Singles Championships and climbing to a season-high No. 6 in the ITA singles rankings. She has maintained a top 20 national ranking this season with a 27-6 singles record, including eight wins over ranked opponents. Her notable victory over Arkansas’ No. 23 Caroline Gomez Alonso highlights her performance.

In doubles, Welker has compiled a 24-7 record this spring, including a victory with partner Andrea Nova over Vanderbilt’s No. 6-ranked duo. Their successful partnership helped the Rebels reach a season-high No. 8 in the ITA doubles rankings.

Ole Miss awaits its NCAA tournament fate, with the field of 64 set to be announced April 27. The team will learn if they advance to the postseason later this month.
