Southern Miss’s Sodhi Named to Sun Belt Men’s Tennis Second Team

HATTIESBURG, Miss. — Southern Miss senior Saheb Sodhi has been named to the 2026 Sun Belt Conference Men’s Tennis Second Team in singles, the conference announced Monday. Sodhi is the Golden Eagles’ only honoree in singles for the season.

The Mumbai, India, native played a pivotal role in Southern Miss’s season, delivering several of the team’s most notable results. Sodhi finished the regular season strong, winning his last two matches at the No. 3 spot in straight sets and earning Sun Belt Player of the Week honors in the final week of league play.

His standout victory came on March 8 at the LSU Tennis Complex, where he defeated then-No. 6 LSU’s Matias Ponce De Leon in three sets, 7-6 (7-3), 3-6, 6-3. Sodhi also contributed a key victory at the end of the season, beating Troy’s Yeray Andres Pastor 6-3, 6-4 in the Sun Belt quarterfinals on April 17, helping Southern Miss to a 4-1 loss.

Throughout the season, Sodhi was a consistent presence in singles and doubles, partnering with Eric Perkowski and Jose Murariu. His leadership helped the Golden Eagles in both regular-season and postseason play, including the Sun Belt Championship in Rome, Georgia.

Sunday marked the conclusion of Sodhi’s four-year career at Southern Miss, during which he established himself as one of the team’s most reliable players, according to the university. The conference’s All-Conference teams were announced earlier this week, with Sodhi earning recognition for his performance.
