Ole Miss Women’s Basketball Rehires Hopp as Assistant Coach and Operations Coordinator
Oxford, Mississippi – Ole Miss women’s basketball announced Monday that head coach Yolett McPhee-McCuin has rejoined Zachary Hopp as an assistant coach and brought back Ashton Hopp as the team’s coordinator of operations. The duo joins the Rebels with their daughter, Beverly Faith.
Zachary Hopp returns to Oxford after spending a season at Arkansas State, where he served as director of analytics and strategy for the men’s basketball team. During his time there, he helped lead the Red Wolves to a 20-12 record and an 11-7 conference mark. Hopp also assisted in developing Arkansas State’s leading scorer, Christian Harmon, who earned All-Sun Belt Third Team honors.
McPhee-McCuin praised Hopp’s return, citing his familiarity with the program and his analytical mind. She said, “Zachary returning to Oxford in the role as an assistant coach is an excellent addition to our staff. He has a sharp basketball mind and a passion for the game, along with outstanding character.”
Hopp previously played a key role at Ole Miss, serving two seasons as coordinator of scouting and analytics during his first stint. He contributed to the team’s success, including three NCAA Tournament appearances and two Sweet 16 berths. His coaching career also includes time at Washburn University in Kansas and work with Athletes in Action during an international trip to Israel.
Meanwhile, Ashton Hopp returns after a season as director of basketball operations at Arkansas State. She previously spent three seasons with Ole Miss women’s basketball, including two as a graduate assistant and one as a special assistant to the head coach. During her tenure, the Rebels won 22 or more games each season and advanced to the NCAA Tournament three times, including two Sweet 16 appearances.
Hopp also co-founded Grow the Game, a nonprofit organization supporting college basketball student managers with resources and professional development opportunities. A native of Waynesville, Missouri, she graduated from Kansas in 2021 with a degree in sport management and a minor in business.
“I am grateful to return to Ole Miss,” Hopp said. “Coach Yo is the best in the business, and I believe this program is a national championship contender. I am eager to contribute to its success.”
