OXFORD, Miss. — Ole Miss Soccer opened the 2026 season with a 1-0 victory over Murray State on Wednesday night at Ole Miss Soccer Stadium, in the debut match for new head coach Todd Shulenberger, according to the university.
The Rebels (1-0-0) dominated possession and shots throughout the game. They outshot the Racers 22-4 and held a 10-1 advantage in corner kicks, according to match statistics.
Junior Katie Ramsden scored the only goal of the match in the 63rd minute, assisted by Sarah Granno. Ramsden entered the game in the 61st minute and needed just over a minute to find the net. Granno’s pass set up Ramsden for the finish at the 62:14 mark, giving Ole Miss the lead.
Ole Miss applied pressure early, taking the first 11 shots in the match. Granno nearly scored in the 17th minute, but her shot was deflected. The Rebels kept up the offensive tempo after halftime, with Ramsden scoring shortly after entering the game.
Murray State’s first shot on goal came in the 70th minute, but Ole Miss goalkeeper Taylor Prigge made the save to preserve the lead. Prigge played all 90 minutes, recording one save for her first win of the season. The Racers’ only corner kick also came after halftime, but Ole Miss prevented a scoring chance.
The Rebels finished with four shots on goal and maintained 55% possession. They return to action Sunday, traveling to Lafayette, Louisiana, to face Louisiana at 1 p.m. CT on ESPN+.
