Ole Miss Men’s Golf Ties for 28th at NCAA Championship After Opening Round
Carlsbad, Calif. — No. 9 Ole Miss men’s golf finished the first round of the NCAA Championship Friday with a score of 303 (+15), placing them in a tie for 28th at the Omni La Costa Resort & Spa.
Cameron Tankersley led the Rebels, carding a 1-over 73. He started strong with back-to-back birdies on his first two holes and was 1-under at the turn. The Dickson, Tennessee, native added a birdie on the par-5 2nd hole and will begin the second round tied for 58th place.
Tom Fischer was the second-best scorer for Ole Miss, finishing with a 4-over 76. Fischer closed his round with a birdie on the 426-yard par-4 ninth hole. Collins Trolio and Finn Meister both shot 5-over 77 in their opening rounds. Cohen Trolio also finished at 5-over, making three birdies in four holes early on the back nine.
The Rebels are scheduled to tee off the second round Saturday morning. Collins Trolio is set to start at 9:25 a.m. Central Time off No. 1.
