Mississippi State Women’s Golf Opens NCAA Tournament in Chapel Hill

Mississippi State women’s golf is competing in the NCAA Tournament for the sixth straight year. The Bulldogs are the No. 3 seed in the Chapel Hill Regional, which started Monday at UNC Finley Golf Course in North Carolina.

The Bulldogs’ lineup includes Avery Weed, Ines Belchior, Samantha Whateley, Moa Stridh and Izzy Pellot. Weed, Whateley and Pellot are experienced NCAA Tournament veterans, with Weed and Whateley making their third appearances. Pellot is the first Bulldog in program history to compete in all four of her collegiate seasons at the NCAA level.

Belchior and Stridh are freshmen making their NCAA debut. Both had successful regular seasons, recording three rounds in the 60s—an achievement that makes them the only freshman teammates in program history with three or more rounds in the 60s.

The Bulldogs are scheduled to tee off at 7 a.m. CT. They will play alongside the top seed Texas and host North Carolina. A top-five finish would advance Mississippi State to its fifth straight NCAA Championship, extending the program’s longest streak.
