Mississippi State Track Athletes Earn All-SEC Honors

Three Mississippi State track and field athletes earned All-SEC honors following the conference outdoor championships, announced by the Southeastern Conference on Monday.

Marie Rougetet and Sacha Rifflart received first-team honors, while Nelly Jemeli was named to the third team. Their selections came after impressive performances at last weekend’s SEC meet in Birmingham, Alabama.

Rougetet claimed her first SEC title in the hammer throw with a mark of 69.25 meters in the fifth round. Her throw secured her the gold medal and made her the first SEC outdoor champion in the event since 2018. She also earned her second SEC medal and broke her own program record earlier this season, maintaining a top-four national ranking in the event.

Rifflart made his outdoor conference debut with a historic victory in the decathlon, scoring 7,507 points — the fourth-highest in program history. The senior dominated all ten events over two days, winning six and finishing with more than a 500-point lead over the runner-up.

Nelly Jemeli earned third place in the 3,000-meter steeplechase with a personal-best time of 9:47.10, setting a new program record. The performance improved her from fifth place at last year’s championships. Jemeli, a consistent top-ten national and top-five SEC performer, holds three program records in distance races and has been a key contributor for MSU this season.
