Mississippi State’s Rifflart Wins SEC Decathlon Title
Mississippi State’s Sacha Rifflart won the decathlon at the SEC Outdoor Championships in Auburn, Alabama, on May 15. He scored 7,507 points, the fourth-highest in school history and 19th nationally, according to meet organizers.
Rifflart dominated the event, winning six of the 10 competitions and maintaining his lead throughout the two-day meet. His victory marked the Bulldogs’ first SEC decathlon title in 24 years.
In addition to Rifflart’s achievement, Nelly Jemeli earned her first SEC podium finish with a bronze in the 3,000-meter steeplechase. Her time of 9:47.10 set a new program record. Roury McCloyen finished fifth in the shot put with a throw of 19.43 meters, making his fourth consecutive final appearance at the SEC meet.
Nicholas Fakorede advanced to his first SEC 100-meter final, running 10.18 seconds in the preliminaries. The final is scheduled for Saturday evening. The meet concludes tomorrow, with multiple Bulldogs competing in track and field events. The competition can be streamed on SECN+.
