Mississippi State’s Rougetet Wins Bronze at NCAA Outdoor Championships
EUGENE, Ore. — Mississippi State track and field athlete Marie Rougetet secured her first NCAA outdoor podium finish Thursday, earning third place in the hammer throw. Rougetet recorded a third-round mark of 69.71 meters, which held up to claim bronze, according to meet officials.
This marks Rougetet’s second consecutive NCAA Outdoor Championships appearance. She earned First Team All-American honors, improving her placement by 14 spots and her distance by five meters from her performance in 2025. Rougetet is the first Bulldog in program history to earn a podium finish in the hammer and to receive First Team All-American honors.
She is only the second All-American in Mississippi State history for track and field, and the first to achieve the distinction in 14 years, the university said.
Nelly Jemeli also competed Thursday in her second NCAA outdoor championships, finishing 18th in the women’s steeplechase with a time of 9:58.86. Jemeli did not advance to the finals.
The meet continues Friday with the men’s events, including three field events and a relay. The men’s 4×100-meter relay team qualified for the final after posting a time-qualifying performance Wednesday evening. Freshmen Khalil Antoine and Kevin Grubbs will make their NCAA debuts in the jumps and discus throw, respectively.
The championships are streamed on ESPN2, with individual field events on ESPN+. For more information, visit HailState.com or follow @HailStateTF on X (formerly Twitter), Instagram, and Facebook.
