Mississippi State Track and Field Heads to NCAA East First Rounds in Lexington
Mississippi State track and field is set to compete at the NCAA East First Rounds in Lexington, Kentucky, starting Wednesday. The team qualified 26 athletes for the meet, which runs through Saturday.
The event features men’s competitions on Wednesday and Friday and women’s events on Thursday and Saturday. Athletes will compete in track and field events with the goal of finishing in the top 12 to advance to the NCAA Outdoor Championships in June.
Most field events, aside from vertical jumps, will consist of three-attempt preliminaries with no final. Running events will have two rounds, with the top 12 finishers advancing to nationals. Four men and seven women from Mississippi State will compete, including athletes making their first NCAA East appearance. Tuomas Narhi, Roury McCloyen, and Sam Navarro will compete in their second NCAA meet.
On the women’s side, Marie Rougetet aims for her second NCAA appearance, with Kaylee Clark and Mallory Streetman returning to the East Preliminary. The meet will be streamed on ESPN+ and results are available online. The Bulldogs’ coaches and athletes will be available for media sessions Thursday and Friday, according to team officials.
