Belhaven’s Canale Receives ABCA All-Region VI Third Team Honors

JACKSON, Miss. — Belhaven University third baseman Austin Canale has been named to the ABCA All-Region VI Third Team, adding to his postseason accolades. The sophomore from Mandeville, Louisiana, played a key role in one of the Blazers’ most successful seasons in recent years.

Canale was one of the most consistent hitters in the Collegiate Conference of the South. He led Belhaven with a .357 batting average, collecting 65 hits, 47 runs, 13 doubles, two triples, two home runs, and 46 RBIs in 46 starts. His offensive production helped the team reach a program-high national ranking of No. 4 in the D3baseball.com Top 25 this spring.

During the postseason, Canale delivered clutch performances, including a three-run double in an NCAA Regional game against Concordia University Texas. He also contributed key hits during the CCS Tournament run. Earlier, he earned First Team All-CCS honors, the first all-conference recognition of his career.

Defensively, Canale started all 46 games at third base, registering 88 assists and aiding the team in turning 34 double plays. His contributions helped solidify Belhaven’s infield throughout the season.
