Mississippi State Produces 51 Professional Baseball Players in 2026 Season

Mississippi State University has a rich history of developing professional baseball players. In 2026, 51 alumni are active across various levels of professional baseball, including eight in Major League Baseball, according to school officials.

Among current MLB players are All-Stars Adam Frazier, Brent Rooker, Jordan Westburg, and Brandon Woodruff, as well as World Series champion Nathaniel Lowe. The school has produced 72 Major Leaguers, 13 All-Stars, seven World Series champions, and 21 first-round draft picks throughout its history, officials said.

Several Bulldogs are making an impact on the field. J.T. Ginn, with the Oakland Athletics, earned a win in a start against the Twins on Aug. 26. Nathaniel Lowe of the Cleveland Guardians went 2-for-3 with an RBI in that game. Justin Foscue of the Texas Rangers went 2-for-4 with a home run at the White Sox on Aug. 25. Jake Mangum, with the Pittsburgh Pirates, doubled at the Dodgers on Aug. 21, while Landon Sims pitched a shutout inning for the Reno Aces on Aug. 27.

In addition to MLB players, several Bulldogs are competing in the minor leagues. Tyler Davis of the Portland Sea Dogs has a 2-3 record with a 5.35 ERA in Double-A. Konnor Pilkington, a free agent, was released by the Washington Nationals on Aug. 5 after posting a 4.57 ERA in 31 appearances. Kamhren James of the Montgomery Biscuits batted .229 with seven home runs and 23 stolen bases in Double-A, as of late August.

Other notable alumni include K.C. Hunt, who pitched 4 1/3 scoreless innings for the Montgomery Biscuits, and Cade Smith, who earned a win for the Somerset Patriots in Double-A. The school continues to see its former players succeed at various levels, contributing to Mississippi State’s reputation as a baseball powerhouse.
